Triangle Author: Patrick
Bates
Short
Length
Synopsis:
Freitag’s Triangle is a
theory used to explain the elements of a short story: Exposition, Rising
Action, Climax, Falling Action (the denomount), and the Resolution. In
short, it provides a Beginning, Middle, and an End. As a script, it presents
the story of three long time friends on a road trip along the shores of
Lake Erie
to release the ashes of their recently departed friend, Carl Freitag. The
journey soon reveals the truths about their lives with one another as well
as the dead man. In this instance, life not only imitates art, it follows
its path.
