Filmmaker Bio:

I remember declaring to my mother at age nine that I had completed my first novel - barely a novella at just 37 pages of overly large, fourth-grade script. Around that time, I also began making computer animations with my Commodore 64 and toying with my parents’ Super 8 camera. These early interests merged with theater in high school and led me to an undergraduate degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing. I began making short films as an undergraduate and I decided my senior year that film and video work could provide me with an artistic outlet to unleash my technical and creative skills. I also realized that my interest in stereoscopic media could extend to a specialized area in filmmaking that fascinated me, three-dimensional "3-D" movies. The following year, I set a goal for myself in the personal statement I wrote for my applications to graduate work: to make a stereoscopic movie for my thesis project. Spectator is that film.

I find much enjoyment in fulfilling the role of producer in any production. I have produced short films, commercials, promotional and instructional videos, events, and music videos and I feel the producer's job is the most rewarding and interesting. I love putting together a team and making something out of nothing.

I edit most of what I shoot and most of my personal projects. Don't get me wrong, I dream of the day an editor will give me what I can't do myself, it just hasn't come yet. I've edited on Media 100, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, and more. I love Avid, because it works so well with ProTools and the sound designer in me loves being able to work the two together. I also like to log my own tapes or capture sessions to get a good idea of all that I'm working with.

For now, I want to get out there and work for a while, hopefully under a seasoned producer. I also want to continue to write and produce my own films. My ultimate professional goal is to start my own production company, allowing me to choose projects that interest me. I would like to have the freedom to explore stereoscopic applications to these projects, and be an advocate for stereoscopic and other new or underused mediums.
