Synopsis:  

 

Heather, a sixteen-year-old Goth girl, has a crush on Steve, a popular guy at school. He learns that she likes him after intercepting a note for Lisa, her best friend, explaining that she loves him. Even with this embarrassment, Heather drags Lisa to Steves weekend party. Once there, Steve corners Heather and rapes her. Jenny, Steves girlfriend, catches them together and spreads the rumor that Heather seduced her boyfriend. Heathers parents and the school Principal get involved when Jenny attacks her at school. Heather must defend herself against the lies, but no one believes her. Not even her best friend.

Filmmaker Bio:   

 

Melissa Lawrenz was born in Stockholm , Sweden and grew up mostly in the Midwest with a short jaunt to Alberta , Canada in the 70s. She studied at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, lived and worked in Sweden for a year, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BA in Theatre Arts in 1994.  

 

After obtaining her BA, Melissa worked in London , England for a bit then returned to Green Bay , WI to work at WFRV-TV as a Director/Technical Director for 5 years. Melissa moved on to Columbia College Chicago where she obtained her MFA in film & Video Production in 2006. Promoting Heather, a short narrative film, is just the beginning of her pursuit to write and direct independent feature films.
