Cold Call
World
Premiere
Category: Narrative Short 14min
Director: Andrew Putschoegl
In the spirit of
You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, Cold Call is a
romantic comedy about mistaken identity. Michael is a
struggling novelist forced by financial hardship to live with
his grandmother. He works as a telemarketer part-time and faces
rejection constantly. One day, a random call introduces him to
Julie. She seems perfect, but she thinks he's a blind date
she's been set up with. Michael, excited by the
possibility of actually meeting a woman who might like him,
plays along until his charade is revealed on their first date.

Andrew grew up in Oakdale, Minnesota far from the hustle and
bustle of Los Angeles (where he neither hustles or bustles -
unless times are really tough). The son of British diplomats, he
made his first film when he was a fetus entitled A Womb With A
View. At age six, Andrew learned the fine craft of papier-mache
and constructed a scale model of the statue of liberty. He has
used his talents to design set pieces for Siegfried and Roy, The
Late Show with David Letterman, and the Gold Pin Bowling Alley
in Carson, California. When not creating visual grandeur, Andrew
enjoys attending the opera, writing haikus, volunteering for
medical experiments, and long walks on the beach at sunset.
