In an era of DNA
commodities brokering and near epidemic infertility, cloning has
become a fashionable procreative alternative for young couples
with means. Only DNA meeting the high standards of the
registry is eligible for cloning. Nobel Prize winning scientist
and national hero, Nathan Clive Barclay, met those high
standards and posthumously sired a clone from his preserved DNA.
Unfortunately, all that genetic potential has soured in his
clone, Clive. Feeling that he is merely the residue of
greatness, Clive sets out on a life long mission to destroy the
reputation of his genetic sire through personal misdeed. After
his most recent stint in the mental hospital, Clive is given a
janitorial job at a debt consolidation company. It is here
where Clive meets Marigold, the star telemarketer who is
sleepwalking through life. Now Clive and Marigold must each
decide how to respond to the forces that define them.
