A thru M

Director- Heidi Marshall
Category- Narrative Short
RT-16m 54s

"A through M" is a gripping and harrowing film that journeys between a tense Torture Room and flashbacks to a romantic and pained reunion of a husband and wife. A Resistance member in a war-torn country, Anne, returns home after disappearing years ago to join a Resistance Movement (based in non-violence). Garcia, a tailor by trade, is shocked to see her. He felt betrayed by his wife's departure when she chose to pursue a Movement's ideals and willingly sacrificed her marriage. Anne is now confronted with how a bitter residue and the need for survival have altered her husband: she learns that Garcia now works for the government she is committed to overthrowing. As Garcia slowly becomes more involved with Anne and her subversive actions, he puts his own life in danger. After soothing their predisposed judgments of each other and reigniting a mutual deep love and respect, both Anne and Garcia are captured and forced to endure the most unthinkable torture of tortures – to have to physically harm the person you love in order to protect ideals. In a Torture Room orchestrated by the government, Garcia must decide what he believes in and consequently choose between saving her life and upholding her ideal or… saving his own life. The audience's tension is provoked in how far one might go in order to protect the person, or the ideals, that one loves.
