Director- Ziggy Attias The Father, Unblinking is a character driven, 24 minute, 16 mm short film based on a short story written by the O.Henry Prize winning author Brian Evenson, and is directed by award winning documentary filmmaker Ziggy Attias. Set in rural America a father discovers his young daughter dead of fever. Knowing her death was inevitable, he is at first devastated but quickly realizes that he does not want his fragile wife to see that the girl has passed. While composing himself he decides to hide the girl in the barn so he may prepare his wife for dire news. But after approaching his wife in the kitchen he is unable to face her with the death of their child. The wife asks 'Have you seen your little lullaby?' the father contemplates for a moment and responds with 'I ain't seen her' he asks, 'Have you seen my shovel?' She reminds him, 'You lent it out to Quade.' At this moment The Father decides to bury the girl secretly, thereby giving his wife the gift of a few hours before her life will be forever altered. The Father, Unblinking is a story of how two people deal with the death of their child and their inability to communicate their feelings and thoughts with each other.
